ABOUT US

As part of our mission, Bethel Community Services, Inc. (BCS) has partnered with the Faith-to Fate Ministry at Third Street Bethel AMEC and Sacient Advanced Care Planning, LLC to offer persons in Central Virginia the opportunity to acquire for free three Virginia legal documents (an Advanced Medical Directive, a Power of Attorney and a Last Will and Testament) which are essential for life planning. The creation and distribution of these free legal documents are overseen by a Virginia State Bar-certified attorney. Also, as part of this ministry with BCS, a licensed physician or other professional clinician is available to address health-care related and legal questions. The BCS is committed to providing high-quality services to generally resource-challenged communities. With only a year of focused promotion (as of May 2019), nearly 150 Central Virginians have received their legal documents for free.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR ADVANCE CARE PLANNING PROCESS

The planning process has been streamlined to make it as simple for you as possible. All non-medicare eligible clients will be directed to attend two session, a legal day forum as well as a legal document pick-up day. In total, the process will take approximately 4 total hours of your time.

All medicare eligible clients will be directed to attend three sessions in total. In addition to the Legal Day Forum, there will be two personal conversations with a trained associate to walk you through advance care planning topics and document acquisition.

A two-hour general overall discussion about the legal advance care planning and estate legal documents and sign ups

A two-hour discussion about medical-related options, desires, & decisions

A two-hour discussion to finalize, execute and deliver free legal documents
